Standing in Both

River Walk

Standing in Both

On scraps of paper I write prayers to the helpers and heroes.

Will falling in love with the Earth help us to understand life and death,

recognize our dependence on The Mother and her gifts?

Earth Child is my true name.

Jungle, Sequoias and Ocean speak to me with a new voice.

Here I find poems of passion.

Words spurt into existence.

In the silence I attune to the birds, the wind, the waves.

They create a compass to my deepest self, where my stories lie fallow,

In the inside of the inside.

Freedom and loneliness meet.

Wildness births new insights.

I know now that my life is both personal and universal,

Both delicious and dry, sensual and senseless.

Standing in both Life and Death, isolation melts.

Without goals or plans I learn to thrive in both joy and struggle.

Trust arises like the sun over the mists on mountains.

An unseen Presence penetrates everything

with

fierce compassion and love.
